Which software should architecture students learn?

The short answer

Learn one drawing tool, one modelling tool and one rendering or documentation tool well — typically AutoCAD, SketchUp or Revit, plus a visualiser.

AutoCAD remains the common drawing standard in Indian practice, while SketchUp and Rhino are used for modelling and Revit for documentation and BIM. Rendering tools such as Enscape, Lumion or V-Ray sit on top of the model.

Employers care more about drawing clarity and coordination than about the number of tools listed. A student who can produce a clean, buildable drawing set in one tool is more employable than one who has opened six.
